What it’s like to be reborn

I remember vividly the day I first stepped outside a hospital - released at last after weeks of undergoing a bone marrow transient. Oh if only that wonderful rush of senses could be bottled. The scents in the air were almost overpowering… I could smell growing flowers … I could smell the time if the day… Voices had a different sound… A dog barking… Shoes on the pavement… I could feel my skin… Had the world always been like this, this alive? I vowed to always look at life like this way, to never forget this moment. Vickie Girard, Stage 4 cancer survivor
